Scam!

I received a phone call from someone (a lady whom I forgot the name, grrr..) from a certain AsiaGlobal company. I have been receiving calls from her number these past few days but I failed to pickup until today.

At first, I thought she was a representative from my credit card bank. She claims that their company is connected with Visa/Mastercard. She said she will be sending me a VIP travel discount card. I hate sales calls so to cut the conversation short, I just said yes to everything she's saying. She said that the discount card will give me 20% to 40% discount to different hotels here and abroad. She said that the card is FREE.. that there will be no monthly charges, no annual renewal fee, and that it is transferable and can be used by anyone in my family..

She was even building rapport asking if I've been to Boracay and if I want to stay at La Carmela Boracay and I said no. I was not suspicious at all because she sounded so legit. She knows a lot of info about me.. my full name, landline number, my address.. I'm surprised she didn't know my relationship status, chos!

The conversation started sounding scam-y when she asked me if I'm at home because they will deliver the card in two hours.. I'm like, "two hours..that fast?!"

Me: Can't my mom just receive it for me? (I don't know why I asked since I am really at home)
Her:  Hindi po. Kayo po dapat mag-receive, ma'am.
Me: And why is that?
Her: Bale yun card po kasi ninyo ay may one time charge na PhP3995. Pwede nyo po siya gawing installment na 12 months so PhP332 blah blah blah..
Me: PhP3995? That's expensive. Sige na.. 

I'm getting tired of the conversation. I was thinking that they will send the card and then I have a choice if I want to activate and pay for it.

Her: Punta na po diyan yun mag-deliver at i-transact po sa harap nyo yun payment. 
Me: What?!

I just can't believe what she's saying. She wants me to pay for the discount card when the delivery guy arrives, she's not giving me enough time to even think about it or to research about the company at all.

Her: I-transact po yun payment so please be ready with your credit card. Pwede po kayong mamili kung ilang months installment blah blah blah
Me: No, cancel it.
Her: Hindi na po pwede i-cancel ma'am kasi na-endorse na po kayo samen ng Visa Mastercard blah blah blah
Me: Well, you can send that delivery guy today but I won't let him use my card. Bye.

Taray no! I got so irritated by that phone call. No doubt, it's a scam. But what really is puzzling me right now is the thought that they have all my personal info that only my credit card company is supposed to know! I care too much about my privacy so I don't just give out personal info to anyone I don't know. Even my address and contact numbers are not posted in my FB account except for close friends and family. I'm beginning to have doubts about the security and confidentiality of my info in these banks, hmp!


**I researched about this and found a similar post here. She said the name of the company is FinAsiaGlobal. I may have heard the lady incorrectly.
